Personnel changes to universities’ governing bodies
Carlson Tong (唐家成) was appointed as Chairman of the University Grants Committee (UGC) for a term of three years with effect from January 1, 2016.
Mr Tong is the current Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission.
Meanwhile, current and former senior member of Bank of East Asia, Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Citigroup Ignatius Chan (陳子政), and independent pro-est lawmaker Lam Tai-fai (林大輝) were appointed as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University respectively for a term of three years with effect from January 1, 2016.
Dermatologist Dr Henry Chan (陳衍里), Managing Director of Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties Philip Chen Nan-lok (陳南祿), Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong David Fong Man-hung (方文雄), Founder of Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation Belinda Hung Kwai-yi (孔桂儀), and Professor Walton Li Wai-tat (李維達) were appointed to the Court of The University of Hong Kong.
New heads of Testing and Certification Council and Internet Registration Corporation named
Professor Albert Yu Cheung-hoi (于常海) and Mr Chan Sai-ming (陳細明) were tapped to head the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification and the Internet Registration Corporation Limited respectively.
Professor Yu is a neuroscientist and the founder and chairman of a research and development laboratory for testing and medical devices. He is also the Chairman of the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization.
Mr Chan is the Executive Director and Deputy General Manager of Nanyang Commercial Bank, Limited and President of ISACA China Hong Kong Chapter.
Appointments to Financial Reporting Council panel
Tradelink’s new CEO Tse Kam-keung (謝錦強) was named member of the the Process Review Panel (PRP) for the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) for a term of two years effective from January 1, 2016.
Mr Tse will replace Angelina Kwan (關蕙) who is a current member of the government’s Administrative Appeals Board, Council for Sustainable Development and Women’s Commission.
