The Government of Alberta hosted a trade promotion event featuring Alberta companies’ inbound investment in Hong Kong. While the oil-rich province may be suffering from record low oil prices, Alberta head of Asia Ron Hoffmann was keen to explain that lower prices for real estate, labour, and projects created a buying opportunity.

“Smart investors know to buy low, sell high,” Mr Hoffmann said. He also stressed that if Alberta didn’t have what investors wanted, his team would be happy to refer them to opportunities in other Canadian provinces. “We would rather have you doing business with Quebec or B.C. instead of Peru or Pennsylvania. What’s good for Alberta is good for Canada, and what’s good for Canada is good for Alberta.”
