Matthias Li named first Chinese CEO of Ocean Park

Matthias Li Sing-chung (李繩宗) was tapped to succeed Tom Mehrmann as Chief Executive of the Ocean Park from July this year. He will be the first Chinese to take up the role.

Chairman of Link Management to keep the ‘Lion Rock Spirit’ alive

Chairman of Link Asset Management, Nicholas Sallnow-Smith announced – on April Fool’s Day – that he has assumed the role of Chairman of The Lion Rock Institute from interim chairman Peter Wong. He meant it.

“It is a role I am happy to take up. The “Lion Rock spirit” in Hong Kong has been one of the key factors attracting me to stay in this city for the rest of my life,” Mr Sallnow-Smith said in his first message to the ‘Lionrockers’ as chairman.

The new chairman is certainly not a fan of the European style of regulatory capitalism. He says there is “the need to focus Hong Kong on avoiding following European Governments into a world of more and more regulation that dulls and constrains the individual initiative of our citizens.”

Mr Sallnow-Smith was Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in 2012, Chairman of Hong Kong Chapter of the AFS Intercultural Programs between 2009 and 2012, and Regional CEO (North East Asia) of Standard Chartered from 2007 to 2008.
