New term for Newspaper Society; Firefighter chief to pass the torch; Monetary Authority appoints new executive director.


Newspaper Society leadership elected

The Hong Kong Newspaper Society has elected its new term of leadership with President Lee Cho-jat (李祖澤), Chairman Keith Kam Woon-ting (甘煥騰; Ming Pao Daily) and Vice Chairman Siu Sai-wo (蕭世和; Sing Tao Daily & The Standard) all retaining their posts.

The Wen Wei Po-Ta Kung Pao duo of Yin Shu-guang (尹樹廣) and Stephen Fung Chung-leung (馮仲良) were elected honorary secretary and honorary treasurer respectively.

The new council also endorsed the appointment of Lo Wing-hung (盧永雄; Sing Tao Daily) and Lau Chi-kuen (劉志權) of the Department of Journalism, HK Baptist University, as spokesmen. Lau was also named executive director of the organisation.

Other elected council members include: Alan Lo Kok-luen (盧覺麟; AM730), Ray Zhou Li (周立; China Daily HK Edition), Zhang Jieling (張介岭; Commercial Daily), Alice Kwok Yim-ming (郭艷明; HKEJ), Eric Lai Chun-fai (黎振輝; Economic Times), Gu Zhuo Heng (谷卓恒; Sing Pao Daily), Alex Ho (何和民; SCMP), Chow Chung-yan (周松欣; SCMP) and Chan Wing-ping (陳永平; The New Evening Post).

Li Kin-yat to assume post as firefighter chief

Deputy Director of Fire Services Li Kin-yat (李建日) will take up the post of Director of Fire Services on 15 August, 2016, when Lai Man-hin (黎文軒) will proceed on pre-retirement leave.

Li, aged 51, joined the Fire Services Department as a Station Officer in August 1983 and became Deputy Director of Fire Services in June 2014. Here is a news clip of Li at the recent four-alam self-storage fire site in June.

 

HKMA appoints new financial infrastructure executive director

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has appointed Li Shu-pui (李樹培), head of its financial infrastructure development section as Executive Director (Financial Infrastructure) with effect from 7 August, 2016, upon the retirement of Esmond Lee (李建英).

Li joined the HKMA in 2001 as a consultant at Division Head level to help develop and set up the supervisory framework for e-banking, technology risk management and business continuity planning of authorized institutions.
