Carrie Lam lookalike official to take charge of CE-elect office
The government has established the Office of the CE-elect with Jessie Ting, formerly Postmaster General, as Secretary-General (designate) of the office.
Despite earlier criticism about the costs of the office, Netizens’ attention was on Ting who bears an almost identical appearance to Carrie Lam.
Ting was said to be favoured by Carrie Lam when she worked for Lam in the Development Bureau.
‘Ousted’ ICAC chief investigator joins international consulting firm
The ICAC has approved an application from Rebecca Li Bo-lan (李寶蘭), the former acting deputy commissioner and head of operations at the anti-graft watchdog, to take up a new consulting post at Berkeley Research Group.
Li resigned from ICAC following commissioner Simon Peh Yun Lu’s controversial decision not to promote the “uncompromising” investigator as deputy commissioner. Li was said to be in charge of the investigation into CY Leung’s UGL payment saga.
Developer, former ExCo member appointed to Hospital Authority
The government has announced the re-appointment of six serving members and the appointment of two new members to the Hospital Authority (HA).
The new members, David Fong Man-hung (方文雄), Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Limited and the Chairman of think tank The Hong Kong Strategy, and Franklin Lam Fan-keung (林奮強), non-official member of the Executive Council and founder of policy research organisation HKGolden50, will serve for a term of two years with effect from April 1, 2017.
New appointments to Steering Committee of Pilot Green Transport Fund
The government has appointed three new members to the Steering Committee of Pilot Green Transport Fund. They are Chan Sam-choi (陳三才) from Hong Kong Dumper Truck Drivers Association, Professor Christopher Chao Yu-hang (趙汝恆), Head and Chair Professor of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, HKUST, and Dr Lawrence Cheung Chi-chong (張梓昌) of Hong Kong Productivity Council.
The new two-year term will start on 1 April, 2017.
PR giant appointed to Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene
The government has re-appointed Professor Lo Yuk-lam (盧毓琳) as the Chairman of the Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene. At the same time, 15 serving members have been re-appointed and one new member has been appointed to the Council. The term of appointments will be from 1 April, 2017, to 31 March, 2019.
The new member, Richard Tsang Lap-ki (曾立基), is the Chairman of the Strategic Public Relations Group. Tsang was also named the first Chinese to lead the global PROI Worldwide.
