New deputy police commissioner appointed
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Chiu Wai-yin has been promoted as Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from 8 July, 2017.
Chiu, 54, joined the Hong Kong Police as an Inspector in 1983. She was promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2002, Chief Superintendent in 2006, Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2011 and Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2014. She is currently the Director of Personnel and Training.
Two new members to join Harbourfront Commission
The Government has announced the appointment of 28 members to serve on the Harbourfront Commission (HC) for the term commencing on 1 July, 2017.
Commission chairperson Charles Nicholas Brooke and member Vincent Ng are re-appointed as a member of the HC for a one-year term from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. Twelve organisations, four individuals and eight public officers are re-appointed as members of the HC for a two-year term from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019.
New members are Hong Kong water sports veteran Karl Kwok Chi-leung and former Architectural, Surveying, Planning and Landscape lawmaker Tony Tse Wai-chuen. Tse has also represented the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors in attending the former Harbourfront Enhancement Committee (the predecessor to the HC) before.
Three new appointments to HKSTPC
The Government has announced three new appointments to the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC), and re-appointed an incumbent member.
Cordelia Chung, Managing Director of Lixil Group, Kent Ho, Founder and Managing Director of Spectrum 28, and Dr Kim Mak, President of Caritas Institute of Higher Education and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers, have been appointed as new board members of the HKSTPC for a period of two years from 1 July, 2017.
Appointments to Education Commission
The Government has announced the appointment of two new members to the Education Commission (EC). They are the Principal of Po Leung Kuk Li Tsui Chung Sing Memorial Kindergarten, Nancy Ho Lan-sang, and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, Wong Kam-leung.
Three incumbent members, Professor Alvin Leung Seung-ming, Dr Odalia Wong Ming-hung and Dr Fung Wai-wah, have been re-appointed.
The five members have been appointed in their personal capacity for a two-year term.
