Four pro-democracy lawmakers unseated

The High Court has ruled that Nathan Law, Edward Yiu, ‘Long Hair’ Leung Kwok-hung and Lau Siu-lai did not take their oaths correctly on the first day of the LegCo term, disqualifying them as legislators in accordance.

The four lawmakers will seek a deferral of the ruling in order to stay in LegCo until they file an appeal.

Together with the previously disqualified Baggio Leung and Yau Wai Ching, the six lawmakers received more than 180,000 votes in the past LegCo elections.

The disqualification also means that the pro-democracy camp will lose its veto power at least until the by-election is held.
