New land supply task force to deliver in 18 months
CE Carrie Lam has announced the establishment of a task force to study ways to boost land supply in Hong Kong. The 30-strong task force will be headed by Stanley Wong, chairman of the Housing Authority’s Subsidised Housing Committee, and will serve a term of 18 months.
It was noted that among the 22 non-official members, five, including Wong, have publicly supported opening up country parks for development while three have voiced concerns or opposition against the idea.
Former development chief to become Science Park adviser
Eric Ma, former Secretary for Development, will take up a new post as an adviser to the Hong Kong Science Park over the development of Lok Ma Chau Loop into a science park in cooperation with Shenzhen.
Information Coordinator for the Office of the Chief Executive Andrew Fung, meanwhile, has reportedly applied to become a self-employed financial consultant. Wong Chack Kei, former adviser to the government’s Central Policy Unit, will assume the role of honorary senior researcher at CUHK’s Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies.
