CY Leung found to be director of Belt and Road and Bay Area companies
Former chief executive CY Leung was found to have been a director of two companies, named after the Belt and Road and Bay Area initiatives, since last month, but did not declare his interests until two days ago when the media reported about his new posts.
The companies, Belt and Road Hong Kong Centre Company Limited and Bay Area Hong Kong Centre Company Limited, were founded by Peter Sit, Leung’s lawyer previously, in July.
Leung’s office said yesterday night that the companies were non-profit-making and he was not paid for the roles, which “will be conducted in accordance with government regulations” but did not clarify if he reported to the advisory committee on post-office employment as required.
