In this photo essay, Harbour Times showcases the work of its photojournalists who braved tear gas and pepper spray on Hong Kong’s streets, bringing its readers some of the most memorable photos of last year.

Harbour Times’ dedicated photographers endured hours of maneuvering through crowds and chaos during anti-extradition law protests. They persevered through pepper spray, tear gas, and water cannons to show us what was happening on the ground, both peaceful and violent. Here are some of the best shots they took last year:
