A profile of our widely-anticipated new Police Commissioner.

Steven Lo expected to assume the role of Police Commissioner.

It was reported that current Police Commissioner Andy Tsang will take a pre-retirement leave starting from Friday. Deputy Commissioner (Management) Steven Lo Wai Chung (盧偉聰) is expected to take over Tsang’s position on May 4 based on CY Leung’s nomination and the Central Government’s appointment.


Lo was said to be the man for former Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai. He joint the Police Force in 1984 and later worked for the Interpol from 1999 to 2002. He was the first ever Asian to hold the a directorial-level post as the Assistant Director of the Interpol Asia & South Pacific Branch.

A very smooth career path seen Lo promoted within the Police Force four times in ten years. In 2009, He was appointed to head the Security Wing and then to take charge as Deputy Commissioner (Operation) in August 2013.

Lo led operation “Solarpeak” to handle the Occupy Central movement.


New Recorder of High Court appointed.

The Judiciary appointed Mr Robert John Whitehead (韋浩德), SC, as Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court with effect from April 30 for a term of three years.
