Although we think of the pandemic as a phenomenon that has limited humanity’s every facet of life, an upcoming exhibition featuring artists from Central Europe and Hong Kong shows that COVID-19 certainly will not inhibit creativity – in fact, it enabled new ways for it to flourish.

The show #STOPGAP2020, presented by KLIP ART and Arta and co-presented by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Hong Kong, is part of deTour, an annual design festival hosted by PMQ Hong Kong. #STOPGAP2020 highlights 11 different artists and their works of art and design from over the past year. These pieces are reflections on the artists’ time during the lockdown and how they have come to adjust to the “new normal” of living in 2020.

Mateusz Piestrak, one of the artists featured in the show, spent his year in Poland where he passed the time in lockdown completing a new series of paintings. Through his unique artistic method, Piestrak focuses on the theme of physical relationships with this series, something everyone had taken for granted before the global onset of COVID-19.

The exhibition opens to the public on 27 November at PMQ, a venue located in Central, until 16 December. For more information on the event and the artists involved, you can visit the organisers’ website.
